What is platelet rich plasma ( PRP ) Therapy ?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an innovative approach to regenerative medicine that provides a personalized therapeutic procedure that involves centrifuging a patient's blood and eliminating certain components ( such as red blood cells ). This allows to concentrate the number of platelets and also help to optimize the white blood cells selection.
PRP using autologous living cells belongs to regenerative medicine field and is become widely used for cosmetic therapy.
It helps restore a youthful skin and smooth out fine wrinkles of face, neck and decollete. Because it is autologous (from patient himself) PRP does not provoke an immune response in the patient and is therefore perceived to have a high margin of therapeutic safety and side effects risks are dramatically reduced.
The concentrated platelets in PRP contain a lot of bioactive proteins or Growth Factors, more or less specifics, which have the potential for promoting and accelerating tissue repair, angiogenesis ( direct stimulation of the formation of new blood vessels ) and collagen production.
PRP is activated to release Growth Factors ( small proteins ) from the intramembranous granules of the platelets and can be utilized for a variety of therapeutic purposes: acne scars, hair loss, strech marks, fine wrinkles and skin rejuvenation.
